Privacy Policy

1. Controller and contact

Fiteo does not require a user account.

2. Data stored on the device

Recipes, ingredients, steps, notes, tags, collections, shopping-list data, settings and timer data are stored locally in the app and its SQLite database.

Photos added to recipes may be copied into private app storage. A backup file is created only when the user explicitly chooses to export one.

3. Photos, camera and OCR

Fiteo may request camera or selected-photo access when the user chooses to import a photo, screenshot or photograph of a recipe.

Text recognition from images runs on the device. Fiteo does not upload cookbook photos or screenshots to its own server solely for OCR.

4. URL imports

When the user chooses URL import, the submitted URL is sent to the Fiteo server. The server retrieves the public page only to extract recipe information.

The importer does not log in on the user’s behalf, bypass paywalls or security controls, and is not intended to download protected content. Downloaded HTML is not intentionally kept as a permanent copy.

5. Video imports and AI features

If the user chooses video analysis, the selected file may be temporarily uploaded to the Fiteo server or retrieved from a public source when that source exposes a direct media file.

The server may prepare audio, selected frames and captions needed to reconstruct the recipe. Selected materials are then processed by OpenAI services for transcription and structured recipe extraction.

Raw and derived media files are deleted when processing completes or is cancelled. Job status and result data remain only for a limited technical period required to serve the import and are then removed from process memory.

6. Timers and notifications

Cooking timers are stored locally. If permission is granted, Fiteo may schedule a local notification on the device.

Fiteo does not require a push token and does not send timer contents to its own notification server.

7. Backups and diagnostics

A backup is exported only at the user’s request through the operating system share interface. The user chooses the destination.

The app may keep limited local diagnostics about error category and time. A diagnostics file leaves the device only when the user explicitly exports it.

8. Recipients and transfers

Depending on the feature used, data may be processed by the Fiteo hosting provider, network infrastructure providers and OpenAI for video/AI imports. Providers process data only as needed to deliver the relevant service.

Where a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, transfers are handled using mechanisms required by applicable law and the relevant provider arrangements.

9. Retention and deletion

Locally stored data remains on the device until the user deletes it, clears app data or uninstalls the app in accordance with operating-system behavior.

Import working data is retained only for the time required to complete the request and technical job lifecycle. Hosting or network providers may retain infrastructure logs according to their security and retention settings.

10. User rights

Where personal data is processed, users may exercise rights available under the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Fiteo features, providers or data practices change. The current version is published at this address.
